PRAYER: This writ petition has been filed seeking for issuance of a Mandamus, to direct the 3rd and 4th respondents to communicate their decision to the 2nd respondent, on the petitioner’s complaint dated 28.08.2025, that has been forwarded to them by the 2nd respondent, forthwith and consequently direct the 2nd respondent to proceed further depending upon the decision of the 3rd respondent within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction, directing the respondents 3 and 4 to communicate the decision taken by them to the second respondent on the complaint lodged by the petitioner dated 28.08.2025, so as to initiate further proceedings as against the accused in accordance with law.

2.The learned Advocate General appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner lodged a complaint before the second respondent and the same has been forwarded to the respondents 3 & 4, who are being the concerned department to conduct enquiry and submit a report. On receipt of the said complaint, the 4th respondent constituted a Committee consisting of the Chief Engineer, WRD, Operation & Maintenance, the Chief Engineer, WRD, Plan Formulation, the Chief Engineer, WRD Chennai Region and the Deputy Chief Engineer(GI), Engineer-in-Chief & Chief Engineer (General), WRD., to conduct an enquiry. After constituting the said Committee, they convened a meeting on 26.05.2026 and yet to complete the enquiry and only after completion of enquiry, the Committee will submit a detailed report.

3.In view of the above submissions by the learned Advocate General, the Committee constituted by the 4th respondent shall complete the enquiry within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and submit a report before the second respondent. In turn, on receipt of the said report, if any offence is made out as against the officials, who committed an offence, the second respondent is directed to take appropriate action in accordance with law.

4.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
