This Court has passed following order on 8/1/2026:-

On 07.08.2025, this court passed the following order:-

''This petition is pending since 2020. The petitioner as well as respondent both had brought on record the conditions of the schools run by the Government/Municipal Corporation upto the year 2020-21. Since last four years, what is the current situation of quality of construction and basic facilities in the Govt. School need to be enquired.

Now we hereby constitute a committee of three members comprising (1) Shri Lokesh Metha, Advocate, (2) Shri Peyush Jain, Advocate and (3) Ms. Dixita Gupta, Advocate to visit and randomly check the condition of minimum 25 schools and submit a report along with photographs/videos for perusal of this Court.

The Indore Municipal Corporation is also directed to provide the details of the education cess collected in the last 3 years and the amount spent on education.

List after four weeks.

A copy of this order be sent to the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation as no one is representing the Corporation before this Court today.''

The Committee has submitted a report in respect of 10 schools out of 25 schools which were directed to be inspected by the Committee. Number of shortcomings have been pointed out in respect of 10 schools in the said report.

Counsel for the State and the Municipal Corporation pray for and are granted four weeks' time to take action for removing the shortcomings pointed out by the Committee on the top priority. Counsel for the respondents shall also furnish the details of the education cess collected for the last three years and the amount spent on education. In respect of the remaining schools, in terms of the Court's order dated 07.08.2025, the members of the said Committee shall carry out inspections and will submit report before the next date of hearing.

Copy of this order be communicated to the members of the Committee comprising Shri Lokesh Metha, Advocate, (2) Shri Peyush Jain, Advocate and (3) Ms.

Dixita Gupta, Advocate.

List the matter on 11.02.2026.

Counsel for the respondent No.4 prays for time to comply with the directions passed by this Court.

Prayer is opposed.

However, in the interest of justice, respondent No.4 is granted further two weeks time to comply with the directions passed by this Court and to file a reply on or before the next date failing which this Court may pass an order for personal appearance of the Commissioner, IMC.

List on 26/2/2026.

Copy of this order be communicated to the members of the Committee comprising Shri Lokesh Metha, Advocate, (2) Shri Peyush Jain, Advocate and (3) Ms. Dixita Gupta, Advocate.

On the next date, Shri Lokesh Mehta, Advocate shall appear before this Court to apprise this Court about the further progress of the committee.
