ORDER
1. Grievance in this application relates to illegal operation of slaughter house, discharging effluents into the ground water drains, river and extracting the ground water without any lawful authority, and violating the siting norms. Further, case of the applicant is that inspite of the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition No. (Civil) 309 of 2003 titled Laxmi Narain Modi vs. Union of India & Ors., respondent has not followed the guidelines for the operation of the slaughter of houses. It is to be noted that none of the unit can be operated without “Consent to Operate” and without “Anti Pollution Devices” and that no ground water can be extracted without the permission from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA). The effect is that there is huge pollution of Ground Water, Air Quality, on account of discharge of effluents by the slaughter house. Remedial action is required to be taken. As reported, the unit is of Red Category 2 as per classification of industries by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
