ORDER
1. In this Original Application (OA), the applicant has made an allegation against the Respondent No. 8-Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) about the discharge of untreated effluent in the trench passing through the Applicant’s field affecting their crops and illegal extraction and use of groundwater and production of ammonia by violating the consent conditions.
2. The Applicants are residents of the villages of Khadaipur and Birkazi, Tehsil Phulpur, District Prayagraj, UP. The plea of the applicant is that Respondent No. 8 has set up a urea and ammonia fertilizer plant at IFFCO, Phulpur, District Prayagraj, UP, of 1500 MTPD and 900 MTPD capacity, respectively. The project falls in ‘Category A’ of EIA Notification, 2006. The applicant alleges that no consent has been granted to Respondent No. 8 for the production of ammonia, but it is manufacturing 2,955 MT of ammonia per day. The applicant also alleges that Respondent No. 8 uses groundwater for production, which it extracts through 19 pumps in the plant and utilises 32,000 m‡ of ground water daily.
