1. The request of the petitioner, for relaxation/modification of October 15, cut off rule for admission to next class in re-evaluation case, was declined by the Controller of Examinations, through an order dated 11.03.2026 (Annexure P-9), which is put to challenge before this Court, by filing the instant writ petition, cast under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is pursuing B.A/B.Com LL.B (Hons.), Five Year Integrated Course with respondents University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Punjab University, examinations. He further submits that immediately after declaration of the result of 2^nd Semester, the petitioner applied for re-evaluation/re-checking of two papers, i.e. English-II (compulsory) and Business Economics Minor (a), which yielded fruits and the said result was declared on 15.01.2026, in which, the petitioner cleared one more examination of English-II (compulsory). Therefore, the petitioner has cleared 50% of the examinations of the Ist year of B.Com LL.B (Hons.), Five Years Integrated Course, which entitles him to appear in the 3^rd Semester. However, on account of delay in declaring the result of re-evaluation, the petitioner could not appear for 3^rd Semester examinations, which were slated w.e.f. 28.11.2025 to 24.12.2025, though he was provisionally allowed to attend the classes of 3^rd Semester, till declaration of result of 2^nd Semester, on 12.09.2025.

By referring to the recent date sheet dated 25.02.2026, issued by the Controller of Examinations, learned counsel for the petitioner apprises this Court that now the 3^rd Semester examinations is to be held from 18.03.2026, and therefore, the petitioner may be allowed to appear in the said examination. 4. Mr. Akshay Kumar Goel, Advocate, who is present in the Court, on being put to advance notice of the instant writ petition, representing the respondents, submits that as per the date sheet for B.A/B.Com LL.B (Hons.), Five Year Integrated Course-1^st, 3^rd, 5^th, 7^th and 9^th Semester, specifically for the students, who missed their paper(s), due to Clash/Medical/Sports events/NSS/NCC in Nov./Dec. 2025, theory examinations is to be held in March, 2026. He further submits that the present petitioner, does not fall in any of the above said category. Further, learned counsel representing the respondents, after having instructions from the quarter concerned in terms of decision dated 19.02.2026, passed by this Court, in CWP-1186-2025 (Annexure P-8), and the directions having been issued therein, apprises this Court that the petitioner can attend the classes of 4^th Semester, and the examinations of 4^th Semester, will be held in May, 2026, whereas, the examination for the 3^rd Semester, is scheduled to be held in the month of December, 2026.

In view of the specific statement, as suffered by the learned counsel representing the respondents, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he would be satisfied, in case, the petitioner is allowed to attend the classes of 4^th Semester, as well as, to appear in the 3^rd Semester examination, which is to be held in December, 2026.

6. In view of the above consensus, no further order is required to be passed in the instant writ petition, and the same is hereby, closed

7. Accordingly, the respondents are directed to allow the petitioner to deposit the fee of 3^rd Semester, for which, he has already attended the classes, as well as, the fee for 4^th Semester.
