1. In the present writ petition, the petitioner is praying for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to issue appointment letter to the petitioner on the post of Constable against Sports Quota under S.C. Category in Punjab Police, which are published vide Advertisement dated 23.11.2016 (Annexure P-1) instead of Punjab Armed Police, which was given to the petitioner vide order dated 22.10.2020 (Annexure P-15).

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that although the petitioner was offered appointment in Punjab Armed Police vide order dated 22.10.2020 (Annexure P-15), however, the petitioner is entitled to be appointed on the post of Constable in Punjab Police. He submits that in light of the order dated 26.05.2020 (Annexure P-16) passed by this Court in CWP-10125-2017 titled as Rajinder Singh Vs. State of Punjab and others, filed by the petitioner earlier, liberty was granted to submit a representation, in case, the petitioner had some grievance and direction was given to the concerned authorities, to decide the same, in accordance with law. Liberty was also granted to the petitioner that in case, the respondents do not decide the representation, the petitioner would have a remedy to approach this Court again. Learned counsel submits that in light of the observations made in the abovesaid order dated 26.05.2020 (Annexure P-16) passed by this Court, the petitioner filed representation(s) and also served the legal notices. The last legal notice served by the petitioner is dated 21.07.2024 (Annexure P-24). He, on instructions from the petitioner, submits that the petitioner would be satisfied if at this stage, a direction is given to respondent No.3 to consider and decide the legal notice dated 21.07.2024 (Annexure P-24) served by the petitioner in a time-bound manner.

4. Ms. Neha Sonawane, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondents-State and does not oppose the prayer made by the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner.

In view of the above and without commenting upon the merits of the case, the present petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 to consider and decide the legal notice dated 21.07.2024 (Annexure P-24) served by the petitioner, in accordance with law/rules, within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

disposed of.
