1. Prayer in the present petition filed under Section 482 of the BNSS, 2023 is for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner in case FIR No.62 dated 17.06.2025 registered under Sections 21, 27-A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (Section 29 of the NDPS Act added later on) at Police Station Zira, District Ferozepur.

2. Brief facts as per the prosecution case are that on 17.06.2025, S.I. Sukhbir Singh along with fellow police officials was on patrolling duty and acting upon suspicion apprehended one Harmesh Singh @ Ramesh Katta and Ajay. Upon search, co-accused Ajay however managed to flee from the spot. Co-accused Harmesh Singh @ Ramesh Katta was found in conscious possession of 4 kgs 400 grams of Heroin and Rs.2,10,000/- drug money. Initially, the FIR in question was registered against the said co-
