In the present writ petition, the petitioner is praying for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to appoint the petitioner as Education Volunteer and has further challenged the appointment letter dated 09.01.2009 (Annexure P-4)

issued to respondent No.4.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in the light of the report submitted by the Inquiry Officer dated 30.05.2017 (Annexure P-2), the petitioner was entitled to be appointed as Education Volunteer.

3. On the other hand, learned counsel for the respondents submit that the scheme under which the Education Volunteers were appointed has been closed by the State of Punjab w.e.f. 29.04.2011 and even respondent No.4 had left the post in the year 2019.
