Prayer in this petition filed under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to release the remaining pensionary amount of gratuity and leave encashment amounting to Rs.9,72,682/- due after retirement.

2. Learned counsel for respondent No.4 at the very outset submits that partial payment towards the retiral dues has already been made to the petitioner and the remaining amount would be released to the petitioner within a period of four months.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he is satisfied with the stand taken by learned counsel for respondent No.4. However, he submits that the petitioner is also entitled to interest on account of delay in releasing his retiral dues.
