1. The issue raised in the present petition relates to allegation of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd. handing over control of coal mine blocks including coal to private companies, resulting in causing direct losses to the consumer and also to the State.

2. This Court took cognizance and issued notices to the State Authorities. Replies have also come on record. In the meanwhile, it is learnt that in the case of Common Cause Vs. Union of India & Ors. (WPC No.463/2012), the Hon’ble Supreme Court has taken the issue relating to coal allotment scam all over India and opined the name as ‘Coalgate’.

3. The Hon’ble Supreme Court has now listed the case on 24.02.2026 for hearing. It is pointed out by the learned Advocate General that in the said case which is pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, Interlocutory Application Nos.38059/2018 and 38061/2018 were filed. The Hon’ble Supreme Court while hearing another Criminal Writ Petition No.120/2012, titled as Manohar Lal Sharma Vs. Prime Minister Office & Ors. passed an order on 27.09.2019 and directed that the WPC No.463/2012 alone shall be dealt along with the Criminal Writ Petition No.120/2012 and not the concerned Interlocutory Applications which are pending and listed on the aforesaid date i.e. 24.02.2026. However, the Hon’ble Supreme Court directed that the IAs be kept along with the writ petition. Registry was directed vide order dated 12.01.2026 by the Hon’ble Supreme Court to list all the matters pertaining to the coal block allocation scam.

4. Thus, we notice that the present issue raised by the writ petitioner is being examined at length and in detail by the Hon’ble Apex Court. Any further submissions which the petitioners would like to make, ought to be taken up before the Hon’ble Apex Court in the pending proceedings.

5. We, therefore, close the present petition and consign it to record with the observation that the petitioner would be free to make appropriate submissions, if so allowed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the aforesaid proceedings. The orders passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court would naturally govern the present case too.
