UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following

O R D E R

1. The petitioners have been denied anticipatory bail by the High Court in connection with First Information Report bearing No. 118 of 2025 registered with Division B Police Station, Police Commissionerate, Amritsar for the offence punishable under Sections 80 and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (for short, “the BNS, 2023”), respectively.

2. The deceased was married to Inderjit Singh past 1^1/2 years. The two petitioners before us are sisters of Inderjit Singh i.e., the sisters-in-law of the deceased.

3. It is the case of the prosecution that there was undue harassment at the end of the husband and the two petitioners before us to the deceased due to which the deceased took the extreme step of committing suicide. It appears that the deceased left behind her suicide note naming the two petitioners before us. However, she also stated that no action be taken against the two petitioners.

4. We heard Ms. Meenakshi Arora, the learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioners, Mr.Neeraj, the learned counsel appearing for the State and Mr. Dinesh Verma, the learned counsel appearing for the first informant.

5. We take into consideration the following aspects:-

(I) The petitioners before us are lady accused.

(II) Both the petitioners have minor children.

(III) Both the petitioners are residing separately at their respective matrimonial homes.

6. In view of the aforesaid, we order that in the event of the arrest of the two petitioners, in connection with the offence enumerated above, they shall be released on anticipatory bail subject to terms and conditions that the Investigating Officer (I.O.)

may deem fit to impose.

7. The petitioners shall now appear before the I.O. for the purpose of their interrogation and recording of their statements.

8. With the aforesaid, these Special Leave Petitions stand disposed of.

9. Pending application(s), if any, stands disposed of.
