bail by the High Court in connection with First Information Report No. 2 of 2026 registered with Sherpur, Police Station, District Sangrur, State of Punjab for the offence punishable under Sections 127(2), 308(2), 351(2) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (for short, “the BNS, 2023”), respectively.

2. Prima facie, it appears from the materials on record that the original first informant is running a jewellery shop. The petitioner accused is alleged to have visited the jewellery shop and then one fine day as alleged, the first informant visited the house of the petitioner to discuss something in connection with sale of a property and at that point of time the other co- accused arrived and stripped him naked.It is alleged that the accused persons in collusion with each other tried to extort money from the first informant.

3. We take notice of the fact that the alleged date of incident is 20.06.2025 whereas the FIR came to be registered on

05.01.2026 i.e., almost after a period of 07 months.

4. We heard Mr. Randeep Singh Gill, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Ms. Nupur Kumar, the learned counsel appearing for the State.

5. We direct the petitioner to appear before the Investigating Officer (I.O.) on 13.03.2026.

6. On 13.3.2026, the I.O. shall interrogate the petitioner and record her statement. However, the petitioner shall not be arrested.

7. Post this matter for further hearing on 17.03.2026.

8. On the next date of hearing, we would also like to know from the State as regards the criminal antecedent(s) of the petitioner.
