Delay of 62 days in filing of present appeal stands condoned for reasons mentioned in application seeking condonation of delay and accompanying affidavit which, in opinion of this Commission do constitute ‘sufficient cause’.
2. Challenge in this Appeal No.567 of 2018 filed by appellants/Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has been invited to legality of order dated 17.01.2018 passed by learned District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum-Sonepat (In short “District Consumer Commission”) in complaint case No.58 of 2017, vide which complainant’s complaint has been allowed.
3. Factual matrix: Complainant’s husband Late Ranbir Singh had obtained Life Insurance Policy No.179852083 from OPs/insurer/appellants. Note: As per policy- Ex.C-3; sum assured was Rs.10.00 lacs. As per plea; he was medico-legally examined and on being found fit; OPs issued policy in his name. Complainant’s husband fell ill; was admitted in Prem Hospital-Panipat on 24.10.2014. Doctor told that disease of her husband may be a chronic disease. Sample was sent to Higher Medical Institution.
