Chandigarh in Consumer Complaint No.69/2025.

PADMA PANDEY, PRESIDING MEMBER MR.RAJESH K.ARYA, MEMBER For the appellants : Sh.Rajneesh Malhotra, Advocate For respondent No.1 : Sh.Parveen, Advocate For respondent No.2 : Service dispensed with vide order dated 27.01.2026 PER PADMA PANDEY, PRESIDING MEMBER This appeal is directed against the order dated 03.11.2025, passed by District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission-I, U.T. Chandigarh (hereinafter to be referred as “the Ld. District Commission”), whereby consumer complaint (CC/69/2025) filed by the complainant/respondent No.1 was partly allowed and the Opposite Parties/appellants(herein) were directed as under ;

“ (i) to pay Rs.2,63,648/- to the complainant alongwith interest @ 9%

per annum (simple) from the date of repudiation of the claim i.e. 25.11.2024 onwards (ii) to pay Rs.15,000/- to the complainant as compensation for causing mental agony and harassment;

(iii)to pay Rs.10,000/- to the complainant as costs of litigation.

This order be complied with by the OPs/Insurers jointly and severally within a period of 45 days from the date of receipt of certified copy thereof, failing which the principal amount(s) mentioned at Sr.No.(i) & (ii) above shall carry penal interest @ 12% per annum (simple) from the date of expiry of said period of 45 days, instead of 9% [mentioned at Sr.No.(i)], till realisation, over and above payment of ligation expenses.

However, the consumer complaint against OP-4(Respondent No.2 herein) stands dismissed with no order as to costs as no cause of action has been proved against it.”

2. Before the Ld. District Commission, it was case of the complainant that the complainant, who was employed with Dr.Reddy's Laboratories Limited (hereinafter referred to as the “erstwhile owner”) was allowed to purchase leased vehicle from it and, therefore, he had purchased Hyundai Venue Car bearing registration No. HP- 12-N-5314 from its
