This order shall dispose of the above noted two (2) First Appeals preferred against the similar orders dated 28.06.2022 passed by District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Amritsar (in short, “the District Commission”), as the questions of law and facts involved therein are similar. Both the appeals have been filed by the appellants/OPs No.1 & 2 for setting aside the impugned order of the District Commission. Facts are taken from First Appeal No.1116 of 2022 titled as “HDFC Bank Ltd. & Anr. Vs. Gurcharanjit Singh & Ors”. The complaint filed by respondent/complainant- Gurcharanjit Singh, before the District Commission i.e. CC/167/2016, was allowed as under:-

“9. In view of the above discussion, we allow the complaint with costs and opposite party No.1 is directed to refund Rs.1.20 lacs and Rs.4.90 lacs alongwith interest @10% p.a. from the date of filing of complaint till its realization. As the complainant has faced harassment as well mentally agony, as such complainant is entitled to compensation of Rs.1,00,000/- and litigation expenses of Rs.50,000/- to the complainant and OP No.1 is at liberty to recover the awarded amount
