Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, the nodal bank is solely liable for any financial loss or underpayment of insurance claims resulting from the bank's misreporting or uploading of incorrect farmer and land details on the insurance portal.

Headnote:The matter pertains to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, where a farmer sought additional crop insurance compensation, alleging that the insurance company paid a lower amount by incorrectly registering the land in Tehsil-Tonkkhurd instead of Tehsil-Bagli. The District Commission had previously held both the bank and the insurance company jointly and severally liable for the deficiency in service. The primary issue was whether the insurance company is liable for underpayment when the nodal bank provides incorrect land details on the portal. The court reasoned that according to the guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, specifically Clauses XVII(2) and XXIV, the nodal bank is solely responsible for any substantial misreporting of farmer coverage and must make good all such losses. With the aforesaid modifications in the impugned order, the aforesaid appeals stand partly allowed.
