The present appeal has been preferred by Assistant Engineer (D2), Bikaner Electricity Supplies Limited, Bikaner (hereinafter referred to as the “Appellant”) against the order dated 18.03.2021 passed by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Bikaner (hereinafter referred to as the DCDRC) in Consumer Complaint No. CC/213/2019, whereby the DCDRC allowed the complaint, directing the Appellant to reconnect the electricity connection and to compensate for mental agony and the litigation expenses.

Complaint’s version

Mr. Roop Chand (hereinafter referred to as the “Complainant”) submitted that he has an electricity connection provided by the Appellant bearing K. No. 310113005182.

The Complainant further submitted that he, against his brother Mr. Narayan Prasad, is a party to Civil Suit No. 180/19 titled Narayan Prasad versus Municipal Corporation and Ors., which is pending before the court of Civil Judge No. 3 Bikaner. It was further submitted that the Hon’ble Court vide order dated 18.07.2019, passed in T. I. No. 168/2019 in the aforesaid suit, directed the parties to maintain status quo.
