2. This writ petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking a direction to the respondents to permit them for registration and to exercise web options for admission into MBBS/BDS course under Management Quota “B & C (NRI)” category for the academic year 2025-2026 in the

next phase of counselling.

3. The case of the petitioners is that they had only registered under “A” category competent authority quota. However, due to inadvertent mistake, they have missed the registration of Management Quota under “B & C (NRI)” category for admission into MBBS/BDS course for the academic year 2025-26 before 2:00 p.m. on 24.09.2025 in terms of the notification dated 22.09.2025.

4. Learned Standing Counsel for the University has referred to the notification dated 22.09.2025. It is submitted that the note and instructions to the candidates, categorically specify that the candidates in the final merit list, who do not exercise web options in the first phase of counselling, shall not be eligible to exercise web options in the subsequent phase of counselling to prevent seat blocking. Petitioners are one such candidates, who have not exercised their web options in the first round of counselling nor have opted for admission into MBBS/BDS course under “B & C (NRI)” category, where after they could avail the remaining seats under ‘C/NRI’ quota. He submits that the corrigendum dated 04.10.2025 and 06.10.2025 permits fresh registrations only to such candidates, who had exercised web options. Therefore, the petitioners do not fit in the said category. He, however, submits that if the petitioners make a representation, the University would consider it in accordance with law.

Having considered the submissions of learned counsel for the petitioners as also the learned Standing counsel for University and having regard to the above facts and circumstances, petitioners are allowed liberty to make a representation before respondent No.2-University in respect of their claim for registration and to exercise of web options for admission into MBBS/BDS course under Management Quota “B & C (NRI)” category, for the academic year 2025-26. On receipt of such representations, the University would consider the same in accordance with law within a period of two days.

6. If the University allows the petitioners for registration and to exercise their web options, their cases shall be considered in the unfilled seats in the mop-up round.

7. Let it be made clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case.

8. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous applications pending, if any, shall stand closed.
