ORDER:

This Writ Petition is filed with the following relief:

“…to issue an appropriate Writ, Order or Direction, more particularly one in the nature of Writ of Mandamus, declaring the inaction of the respondent police in conducting a fair, impartial, thorough and expeditious investigation into FIR No. 66/2025 registered at Shaligouraram Police Station, Nalgonda District though the said case is registered on 17-4-2025 as being illegal,

arbitrary, unjust and unconstitutional, and to grant.…”

2. Heard Mr.Karunakar Reddy, learned counsel for the petitioner and

Mr.D.Pradeep, learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the respondent police have failed to conduct a prompt and effective investigation in connection with FIR No. 66 of 2025 registered at Shaligouraram Police Station, Nalgonda District. It is contended that despite the registration of the said

FIR, the police authorities have not taken appropriate or meaningful steps in furtherance of the investigation, thereby defeating the very purpose of criminal law machinery. Consequently, the present writ petition has been filed seeking appropriate directions from this Court to ensure proper investigation in accordance with law. It is further contended that such inaction on the part of the police amounts to a violation of the statutory mandate under Section 156 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, which obligates the police to investigate cognizable offences diligently.

Thus, prayed for a direction for through and effective investigation.

4. Per contra, the learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home submits that the respondent police are actively seized of the matter and that the investigation is presently underway. It is submitted that certain procedural and factual aspects require verification, and the investigation shall be completed within a reasonable time. Accordingly, it is prayed that

appropriate directions may be issued.

5. I have carefully perused the material available on record and

considered the submissions made by both parties.

6. The grievance of the petitioner primarily pertains to the alleged delay and lack of progress in the investigation of the aforesaid FIR. On the other hand, the explanation offered by the learned Assistant Government Pleader indicates that the investigation is ongoing and requires additional time for

completion.

At this juncture, it is apposite to note that while this Court ordinarily does not interfere with the manner of investigation, it is well within its jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue appropriate directions to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fair, impartial, and time bound manner, as held in Sakiri Vasu v. State of Uttar Pradesh,

2007 INSC 1243 and Vineet Narain v. Union of India, 1996 INSC 147.

Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, and balancing the need for an effective investigation with the rights of the petitioner, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent police, particularly respondent No. 3, to prioritize the investigation and conclude the same expeditiously, preferably within a period of four (04) weeks from

the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

9. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall

be no order as to costs.

Miscellaneous Petitions, pending if any, shall stand closed.
