(2) Petitioner’s husband was employed as Peon in WATS, which is a wing of Sashastra Seema Bal, Ministry of Home, Government of India. He passed away on 22.6.2020. Petitioner applied for family pension, however pension was not sanctioned to her on account of some discrepancy in her name.
(3) According to petitioner, her name was incorrectly described as Mathura Devi in the service record of her late husband, which should be recorded as Bira Devi, which is her actual name. By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought the following reliefs:
“(i) Issue a writ, order, or direction in the nature of mandamus, commanding the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner for granting family pension after the death of her husband.
(ii) Issue a writ, order, or direction in the nature of mandamus, commanding the respondents to pay the arrears of pensionary benefits w.e.f. the date of the claim made by the petitioner.”
(4) Mr. Saurabh Adhikari, learned Counsel appearing for the respondents, has produced in Court a communication dated 8.11.2025, issued by Assistant Commandant (Mantra), SSB Academy, Bhopal, which is taken on record. In para 3 of the said communication, it is mentioned that Smt. Bira Devi and Smt. Mathura Devi is the same person. Based on the instructions, Mr. Saurabh Adhikari submits that the competent authority has granted necessary sanction for release of Family Pension to the petitioner and now petitioner is required to submit some documents and Family pension would be released to her within two weeks after submission of necessary documents.
(5) Writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of by taking the statement made by Mr. Saurabh Adhikari on record.
