the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. (2) Petitioner no. 1 and 2 are serving as Assistant Teacher, LT Grade, while petitioner no. 3 is serving as Lecturer in different government institutions. Petitioners are desirous of applying for the post of Principal, Government Inter College, regarding which selection process is currently underway. As per the applicable rules, an Assistant Teacher, LT Grade with 15 years of experience as such can also apply for the post of Principal, while for Lecturers the required experience is only 10 years. Petitioners do not meet the requirement regarding experience on the post of Assistant Teacher, LT Grade/Lecturer, therefore they are not in a position to apply for the post of Principal, which has been advertised by Public Service

Commission.

(3) Petitioners contend that as they served as Assistant Teacher in different Government Junior High Schools for sufficiently long period of time, therefore, the services rendered in Government Junior High Schools may be treated as services rendered in the cadre of Assistant Teacher, LT Grade/Lecturer. In this writ petition, petitioners have sought the following

reliefs:

“I. a writ, order or direction in the nature mandamus directing the respondents to count the teaching experience of the petitioner as assistant teacher Junior high school for participating in the promotional excise for the post of Principal which is being conducted by way of limited departmental examination pursuant to the advertisement dated 18.9.2025. Contained in annexure no. 1 to the writ petition.

II. a writ, order or direction in the nature mandamus directing the respondent no. 1 to take decision upon the representation dated

1.10.2025 Annexure no. 11 to the writ petition.”

(4) Learned Counsels for the respondents submit that if petitioner makes representation highlighting their grievance, the competent authority in the Commission shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders.

(5) Writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of with liberty to petitioners to make separate fresh representations within one week from today. If petitioners make such representation within the stipulated time, competent authority in the selecting body shall take decision thereupon within three weeks thereafter.
