Son of the petitioner aged about 7 years is suffering from rare ailment
i.e. "Sickle Cell" disease. Petitioner is praying for issuance of direction to
respondent - State to extend financial benefits to meet the expenses of
medical treatment. We are told that under "Jeevandai" scheme framed by
the Government, patients belonging to Below Poverty Line are provided with
free treatment in the recognised hospital and the State Government
reimburses the amount required for such treatment.

Petitioner hails from Nandurbar district and the closest hospital
where the treatment can be administered is Dhule Medical College &
Hospital, Dhule. We therefore deem it appropriate to direct the Dean, Dhule

Medical College & Hospital, Dhule to make arrangement for administering
treatment to petitioner - Mayur, free of cost. Respondents also agree to
extend the benefits of administering medical treatment to petitioner without
charging fees.

Considering the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case, we
deem it appropriate to issue directions as referred to above. Petitioner may
approach the Dean, Dhule Medical College & Hospital, Dhule for further
compliance. With the directions as above, writ petition stands disposed of.

Pending civil application, if any, does not survive and stands disposed
of.
