By way of this application, the appellants sought condoning the delay

of 995 days in filing the Letters Patent Appeal challenging the order dated 7th

May 2016 passed by the learned Single Judge in Contempt No. 104/2016

which arose out of a service writ petition No. 2292/2015. Writ petition SWP

No. 2292/2015 was filed by 20 persons who had been appointed as Sweepers

on daily wages by the respondents. These petitioners complained that they

were being paid a lump-sum of Rs. 4,500/- per month which was reduced to

Rs. 100/- per month. As such, SWP No. 2292/2015 was filed seeking a

prohibition against the respondents from reducing the scale of wages

admissible under the Minimum Wages Act.
