Petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C.

2. The petitioner is the accused in CC No. 335 of 2017 on the file of the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-I, Ettumanoor. He is alleged to have committed the offence under Section 117(e) of the Kerala Police Act. The petitioner was an accused in Crime No. 1938 of 2016 of Gandhinagar Police Station. When a police officer met him at his office and asked him to give his address, he refused to give his address and threatened him and thus, he prevented the police officer from discharging his duty. The proceedings are sought to be quashed on the ground that the facts of the case do not attract the offence.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Public Prosecutor.

4. The petitioner was an employee of Medical College, Kottayam. He was an accused in Crime No. 1938 of 2016 allegedly registered for the offences under Sections 294(b), 506 & 507 IPC. It was in connection with the investigation of that case the police officer allegedly went to the Medical College. There he met the petitioner who disclosed his name.
