The petitioner has moved this Court with the
following prayers:
“i) to declare that preventing the entry
of the petitioner or any other media-men in
Nilakkal, Pampa or Sannidhanam to cover the
events in the Sabarimala beginning from
16th November, 2018 is patently violative
of Articles 14, 19 and 21 of the
Constitution of India.
ii)
to issue a writ of mandamus
commanding the respondents not to interfere
in any manner with the rights enjoyed by
the petitioner as a Media Person to cover
the events in Nilakkal, Pampa and
Sannidhanam in relation to the pilgrimage
to the Sabarimala Temple from the 16th
November, 2018 and instead permit them
access to those places to cover up the
events and also to undergone any pilgrimage
to the Sabarimala temple.
iii) to issue such other writs, orders or
directions as this Hon'ble Court may deem
fit and proper in the circumstances of the
case.
2. When the matter was taken up for consideration
by this Court on 16.11.2018, the laxity on the part of
the police in dealing with the matter was brought to
the notice by the learned Sr. Counsel, pursuant to
