This Original Application has been registered in New Delhi Bench of

National Green Tribunal as Original Application No.609/2023/PB

on the basis of news item dated 13.09.2023 published in Prabhat

Khabar titled “Jharkhand: Lohardaga mei phal - phul raha Boxite ka

avaidh dhandha Van Kshetra se khanan kar kiya ja raha dump”.

On transfer to this Bench, this Original Application is re-numbered

as O.A. No.172/2023/EZ.

The news item states that Lohardaga is known as bauxite city and

in the forest area large scale rampant illegal mining of bauxite is

going on and the bauxite is clandestinely transported in the trucks

having forged number plates, on account of which Lohardaga has

become a dumping yard of the illegally transported bauxite. It is

alleged that on account of such dumping, the ground water level

has gone down. The wells and boring of the area have dried up and

the sound pollution has crossed the permissible limit and the entire

area is affected by dust pollution.
