UPON hearing the counsel the Court made the following

O R D E R

Heard Mr. Mahabir Singh, learned Senior counsel appearing

on behalf of the petitioner as also Mr. Harish N.Salve, learned

Senior counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent No.3 - Trust

and carefully perused the material placed on record.

The present Special Leave Petition arises out of the

impugned order dated 06.06.2022, passed by the High Court of

Karnataka in W.P.(C)No.10688 of 2022.

The petitioner’s main contention is that it is the

State’s responsibility to take care of abandoned or rescued

elephants, which duty should not be abdicated in favour of the

private respondent No.3 – Trust.

Mr.Harish N.Salve, learned Senior counsel appears on

behalf of the respondent No.3 – Trust and submits that the High

Court of Karnataka has considered all the submissions of the

present petitioner and has disposed of the underlying PIL with

certain directions. He submits that the respondent No.3 – Trust

undertakes to comply with all the directions passed by the High

Court and will take utmost care of the rescued elephants.

On perusing the directions passed by the High Court of

Karnataka and on considering the submissions of the learned

counsel, we are not inclined to interfere with the order dated

06.06.2022 passed by the High Court of Karnataka.

The Special Leave Petition is, accordingly, dismissed.

7.

Liberty is granted

to the parties to make a

representation to the State Government, if any other issue arises

in the future.

8.

All pending applications are disposed of on the above

terms.
