Sometime in August 1993, the claimant and his wife, one Siti Aminah Kasuwi, were appointed together with effect from 10 August 1993 as a hostel warden by the company through its then personnel manager, Jamaludin Rahmat (CLW1). The undated letter of appointment (exh. CO1) reads verbatim as follows:

APPOINTMENT AS HOSTEL WARDEN ON CONTRACT BASIS

We are pleased to appoint you together with your wife as a Hostel Warden on Contract basis effective from 10th August 1993 under the following terms and conditions:

1. MONTHLY PAYMENTS

Payment for services will be a lump sum of RM1,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia One Thousand only) per month. Payment will be made on the same day as CMSB pay day on 27th of each month.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

i) You and your wife (Puan Siti Aminah Bt Kasuwi), will provide hostel warden services either individually, together or alternately on a Twenty-Four (24) hours basis for Seven (7) days a week and continuously.

ii) Job
