AWARD

The parties in this case are Miri Daily News Sdn. Bhd. (hereinafter referred to as "the company") and Chang Chiew Yong (hereinafter referred to as "the claimant"). The claimant alleged that he had been dismissed without just cause or excuse on 18 September 2000.

This case was partly heard and was set down for further mention on 7 December 2004 and 8 December 2004. On 8 December 2004, both parties informed the court that they have reached an amicable settlement.

Pursuant to its powers under s. 31 of the Industrial Relations Act 1967 the court records the terms of settlement wherein the claimant has agreed to accept an amount of RM2,830 as full and final settlement of the claim.
