PONDICHERRY PREVENTION OF COW SLAUGHTER ACT, 1968

PREAMBLE

An Act to prohibit and prevent the slaughter of cow and its progeny in the Union territory of Pondicherry.

BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Pondicherry in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:--

Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Pondicherry Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1968.

(2) It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Pondicherry.

1[(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette appoint.]

1. The Act came into force from 1st July, 1969 Vide Extraordinary Gazette No. 69 dated 26th July, 1969.
