IDDRC at NFSU Launches New Digital Arbitration Platform with Blockchain-Enabled Audit Trails

Gandhinagar-based International Digital Dispute Resolution Centre sets a new standard with digital-native arbitration rules and invites arbitrators to join its panel.

The International Digital Dispute Resolution Centre (IDDRC), established under the aegis of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar, has unveiled its comprehensive digital arbitration and mediation platform. Designed as a digital-first institution, IDDRC aims to modernize dispute resolution through technology, offering end-to-end online case administration, blockchain-secured records, and a rules-based procedural engine.

A Digital-Native Approach to Arbitration

Unlike traditional digitized platforms, IDDRC’s architecture translates its Arbitration Rules, 2026 directly into controlled digital workflows. The platform features six interlocking engines—Rule Engine, Timeline Engine, Authority Engine, Fee Engine, Notification & Service Engine, and Audit & Record Engine—operating against a single unified case record . This ensures procedural discipline is enforced by the system itself, from commencement to award . "NOT JUST DIGITISED. DIGITAL-NATIVE . RULES BECOME WORKFLOWS. WORKFLOW RECORDS CREATE ACCOUNTABILITY," states the Centre’s brochure.

Key Features and Timelines

IDDRC’s rules provide for emergency arbitration within two business days, fast-track arbitration targeting an award within six months, and a mediation continuum that allows parties to explore settlement without procedural risk. The platform integrates video hearings, a unified hearing calendar, and a versioned document repository with hash-chained audit trails. Artificial intelligence is intended to assist the arbitral process, not to replace independent human decision-making.

Institutional Governance and Panel Formation

Operating under the supervision of a Board of Governors comprising retired Supreme Court and High Court judges, including Justice A R Dave, Justice P P Bhatt, Justice Sonia Gokani, Justice Rajesh Bindal, and Justice M R Shah, as well as senior advocates Ratan Singh and Gourab Banerjee, IDDRC ensures independence and neutrality. The Centre is now inviting expressions of interest from experienced professionals for empanelment as arbitrators, with applications to be submitted to iddrc@nfsu.ac.in.

Call for Arbitrators

The empanelment process seeks competent professionals with recognized credentials in legal, commercial, technical, and interdisciplinary domains. Arbitrator availability is verified live against the panel before appointment, and fees are released in procedural tranches . Administrative charges are graded by claim value , starting from INR 5,000 for disputes up to INR 5 lakh. "Before an appointment is made, arbitrator caseload and availability are checked live against the Panel. Availability is verified — not self-declared," the Centre notes.

Conclusion

With its emphasis on secure, efficient, and transparent dispute resolution, IDDRC positions itself as a credible institution for international arbitration and mediation, aligned with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The Centre’s digital-first philosophy and institutional governance mark a significant step in India’s evolution as a global dispute resolution hub.
