18th SILF Turf Cricket League 2026 Kicks Off with Captains' Meet and Pool Draw

The 18th edition of the SILF Turf Cricket League officially commenced on September 24 with the Captains' Meet and Draw of Lots, hosted by , President of the . The event brought together captains from 32 leading law firms, marking only the second time in the league's history that participation has reached this scale. Dr. Bhasin noted that the tournament, conceptualized and organized by Sachin Khurana of , has been conducted in 18 of the 25 years since SILF's formation.
The Pools and Format
The draw divided the 32 teams into eight pools—Pool A through Pool DH—each containing four law firms. Among the notable names in Pool A are , , , and . Pool B features , , , and . The tournament will follow a group stage leading to pre-quarter finals, quarter finals, semi finals, and finals, with matches scheduled from October 2 to December 20, 2026.
Honoring a Legal Luminary
A significant highlight was the announcement that the Man of the Tournament trophy will henceforth be known as the “ Trophy for the Man of the Tournament”, in recognition of the late ’s association with the legal fraternity and SILF. Sonali Jaitley, his daughter, and Jaiyesh Bakhshi, his son-in-law, were present at the occasion. Dr. Bhasin remarked, “The SILF Turf Cricket League has been a cherished tradition, and naming this trophy after Shri is a fitting tribute to his legacy.”
Schedule and Venues
All matches will be played at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, with some key fixtures scheduled at the GGSC venue. The opening match on October 2 sees take on at 8:30 AM. The schedule includes matches every weekend through November, with pre-quarter finals spread across November 15-29, quarter finals on December 5-6, semi finals on December 12-13, and the Plate Finals on December 19 followed by the Cup Finals on December 20.
