Congress kickstarts Lok Sabha polls seat-sharing talks; appoints coordinators for 539 LS seats

The Congress party has begun discussions on seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, appointing coordinators for 539 of the 543 seats. The party is looking to improve its performance in the 2024 polls after a disappointing showing in 2019, when it won only 52 seats. The coordinators will be responsible for coordinating the party's campaign in their respective areas and ensuring that the party's message reaches every voter. The Congress is also in talks with other opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party and the Aam Aadmi Party, to form an alliance to take on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP is also preparing for the elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding rallies across the country and the party's leaders meeting to discuss strategy. The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in April or May of 2024.
