This DBP is registered based on TDB Report No.41 of 2020 in Complaint No.177 of 2019 of the learned Ombudsman. The petitioner/complainant, who is in occupation of two shop rooms bearing Nos.2 and 3 in Valiyakulam Shopping Complex owned by Mavelikkara Devaswom under the management of the Travancore Devaswom Board, filed the said complaint raising certain disputes regarding fixation of rent in respect of an area occupied as godown in the backyard of shop room bearing Nos.2, 3, 4 and 5 measuring

2. According to the petitioner, he is in occupation of two shop rooms in the said shopping complex since June, 1999, in which he is conducting a provision store. At the time of entrustment of the shop rooms, the Board fixed the monthly rent at Rs.700/- per shop room. While conducting the provision store, he occupied an area measuring 18m x 4m in the backyard of the shop rooms, for erecting a temporary shed as a godown. According to the petitioner, the Assistant Devaswom Commissioner, Mavelikkara forwarded the application made by the petitioner to the Devaswom Commissioner.
