Headnote:The petitioners sought a direction for correcting land records of their property in Sy.No.448/2 from 'nilam' to 'purayidom'. Despite filing several applications, the authorities did not act. The Court directed the petitioners to file an application under Form 5 of the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Rules, 2008, for the correction. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly.

1. The petitioners have approached this Court seeking for a direction to the respondents to correct entries of 22.93 ares of property in Sy.No.448/2 in Alangadu Village, Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam, belonging to the petitioners as 'purayidom' in the village records, Basic Tax Register and other revenue records.

2. Brief facts of the case are as follows;
The petitioners are in joint possession and ownership of 22.93 ares of property in Sy.No.448/2 in Alangadu Village, Paravur Taluk, Ernakulam. When the petitioners decided to improve the property, it was found that the land is categorized as 'nilam' in the Basic Tax Register and village records. Though several applications have been filed before respondents 2 & 3 for correcting the entries, the respondents have not taken any step to change the category of the property. The petitioners further filed an application before the 1st respondent for issuing directions for correcting entries in the Basic Tax Register and village records as per Ext.P2. Aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondents, the petitioners have approached this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Government Pleader.

4. The learned Government Pleader, on instructions, submitted that the property is included in the data bank and there is no mistake in the Basic Tax Register and the village records in categorizing the property as 'nilam'.

5. The facts being so, the petitioner is directed to approach the authorities concerned for correcting the categorization of land by filing an application under Form 5 of the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Rules, 2008 , in accordance with law.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
