No. F. 1-1/2021 (CPP-I/DU). In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (f) and (g) of section 26 and sub-sections (2) and (4) of section 12A of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and in supersession of the UGC [Institutions Deemed to be Universities] Regulations, 2019, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the University Grants Commission, with the previous approval of the Central Government hereby makes the following regulations to regulate in an orderly manner, the process of declaration of institutions of academic excellence as institutions deemed to be Universities and to maintain the quality of higher education imparted by such Universities
