An Act to provide for press, registration of periodicals and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Be it enacted by Parliament in the Seventy-fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—

CHAPTER I

Preliminary

1. Short title, extent and commencement. — (1) This Act may be called the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023.

(2) It extends to the whole of India.

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. Definitions.— In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—
