A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district has sentenced four Maoists to life imprisonment for their involvement in a deadly Maoist attack in 2014, in which fifteen security personnel and a civilian lost their lives. The convicted individuals, Mahadev Nag, Kawasi Joga, Mani Ram Mahadev, and Dayaram Baghel, were found guilty under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Act, and the Arms Act. The incident occurred on March 11, 2014, when armed Maoists attacked a road opening party of a joint team of CRPF and state police near Tahakwada village in Sukma district. The attack resulted in the deaths of eleven CRPF personnel, four state police personnel, and one civilian. The NIA took over the investigation and filed a charge sheet against 11 accused in August 2015.
