Indian-American Lawyer Harmeet Dhillon Offers ' Ardas ' Prayer at Republican National Convention for Trump

Sikh Lawyer Performs Solemn Prayer for Former President's Protection

Milwaukee, WI - In a poignant display of faith and respect, an Indian-American lawyer named Harmeet Dhillon was observed performing the Ardas , a solemn Sikh prayer, before former U.S. President Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee.

Dhillon , the former vice chairwoman of the California Republican Party, took the stage just days after Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The attack, which left the former president with a bandaged ear, shook the Republican party and its supporters.

Seeking Comfort and Guidance

"These last 48 hours have been some of the most intense, yet most prayerful of our lives," Dhillon told the gathered delegates and guests. "The heinous attack on President Trump and his supporters made all of us pause, and seek answers in comfort."

Hailing from a family of Sikh immigrants, Dhillon explained the significance of the Ardas prayer in her faith tradition, which is practiced by over 25 million people worldwide.

"We recite the Ardas prayer before any new endeavor, giving thanks to God and asking for his protection and help to uphold the values of humility, truth, courage, service, and justice for all," she said.

Praying for the Nation and Election

As Dhillon began reciting the prayer, several Republican delegates and supporters closed their eyes, folded their hands, and joined her in the solemn moment. Trump looked on, visibly moved by the display of faith and unity.

In her prayer, Dhillon thanked God for creating America as a "unique haven on this Earth, where all people are free to worship according to their faith." She sought blessings and guidance for the country, and prayed that the upcoming election would be blessed with "wisdom, humility, honesty, skill and integrity" for all involved.

Honoring Trump 's "Nirbhay" Spirit

Dhillon also praised Trump 's "tireless and uplifting spirit" in the face of "violent adversity," thanking God for protecting his life and for the former president's examples of "nirbhay" (fearlessness) and the "absence of hate when faced with vitriol."

"These examples of extraordinary calm inspire us," Dhillon said, her words met with thunderous applause from the audience.

As the Ardas prayer concluded, Dhillon expressed her gratitude for the "good spirits everywhere" and prayed that "everyone may prosper and enjoy the grace of your peace."

The powerful moment underscored the diverse faith traditions represented within the Republican Party and the importance of unity and spiritual guidance in the face of adversity.
