Supreme Today News Desk

A Sessions Court in Hubbali, Karnataka, granted bail to Hindu activist Srikanth Poojari on Friday. Poojari was arrested last week in connection with a case of rioting registered in December 1992. The arrest sparked protests by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which accused the Congress government of being harsh on Hindus. The BJP alleged that the Congress government is indulging in minority appeasement. The Congress, on the other hand, accused the BJP of politicising the issue.Poojari was wanted in several other cases and had been avoiding attending court hearings. However, the court granted him bail after considering the fact that he had been in custody for over a week.
