NLU Delhi and Mentblue Launch IP Law Certificate Course for Practical Training

Bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world legal practice, National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) and Mentblue have unveiled a new certificate course on Intellectual Property Rights: Law & Practice . Part of the acclaimed Practice Series , this two-month intensive programme is designed to equip law students, professionals, and in-house counsel with the practical tools needed to hit the ground running in IP law.

A Practitioner-Led Curriculum

Unlike traditional academic courses, this programme is taught by partners and senior practitioners from India’s leading IP boutiques and full-service law firms. Faculty includes names like Bharadwaj Jaishankar (CMS Induslaw), Vidisha Garg (Anand & Anand), Monica Datta (Remfry & Sagar), and Shantanu Sahay (Saikrishna & Associates), among others. The curriculum spans 17 live online sessions across eight modules, covering the full IP lifecycle — from trademark prosecution and patent filing to licensing, enforcement, and portfolio management.

What Participants Will Learn

Participants will engage in live drafting workshops using real documents — examination reports, cease-and-desist notices, licence agreements, and patent claims. The course emphasises day-one readiness, ensuring that attendees can draft, file, and negotiate IP documents from their first day in practice.

“Law firms have moved beyond foundational training. Clients no longer pay for learning curves. Day-one readiness is no longer aspirational — it is expected,” the course brochure notes.

The programme is certified by NLU Delhi, with academic oversight from the Centre for Regulatory Studies. Participants must meet a 75% attendance requirement to receive the certificate.

Who Should Attend

The course is open to two distinct audiences: students pursuing LL.B., LL.M., or integrated law programmes, and professionals including junior associates, in-house counsel at tech and pharma companies, and patent/trademark agents seeking structured practice training.

Investment and Access

The fee is ₹12,000 for students and ₹15,000 for professionals (all taxes included). The fee covers live sessions, six months of replay access, curated reading materials, a document library, and alumni network membership. Cohorts are kept small to ensure personalised attention. Enrolment is on a first-come basis.

Mentblue has a track record of delivering practitioner-led legal education, having trained over 2,300 participants across 20+ courses. The Platform’s alumni work at top firms like Khaitan & Co., Fox Mandal, and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, as well as in-house teams at leading corporates.
