Shyam Narayan Singh and Abhishek Tiwari have been elected as president and general secretary respectively in the annual general election of the Lawyers Association on Wednesday. Among the six contestants, Shyam Narayan Singh got 1945 out of 4940 votes and was declared as winner by the chairman of the Elders Committee. He defeated his nearest rival Arvind Kumar Dixit by a margin of 1023 votes. Arvind Dixit secured 922 votes. Anoop Kumar Dwivedi stood at the third place with 811 votes. Surendra Kumar Pandey, Ramesh Chandra Verma and Praveen Kumar Yadav got 489, 460 and 289 votes respectively. Similarly, Abhishek Tiwari secured the highest 2122 out of 4940 votes and emerged as winner defeating his nearest rival Rajeev Yadav by 622 votes. Rajeev got 1500 votes, Sunil Kumar Pandey stood at the third place with 776 votes, Ajay Prakash Agnihotri, Atul Srivastava and Akhilesh Kumar Gupta stood at fourth, fifth and sixth places with 204, 162 and 148 votes. The two newly-elected office-bearers after declaration of the results stated that they would work in the interest of advocates and their priority would be to improve the image of advocates.
