The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the pleas of the 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case, who were seeking an extension of time to surrender before the jail authorities. The court ordered the convicts to surrender immediately, upholding its earlier verdict that canceled the Gujarat government's decision to grant them remission. The convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment for gang-raping Bilkis Bano and murdering seven members of her family during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
