The present case involves a dispute over the possession of a suit premises. The petitioners had filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging the High Court's order, which had disposed of a bunch of petitions related to the same matter.
The petitioners argued that the High Court's order should be overturned. However, the Supreme Court, in its previous order dated May 13, 2024, had already dismissed the SLP and granted the petitioners time until October 31, 2024, to vacate the premises, subject to the payment of rent and arrears.
The Supreme Court, in its current order, noted that the present SLP would also suffer the same fate as the previous SLP (SLP(C) No. 10671 of 2024) and accordingly dismissed it. The court reiterated the terms of its previous order, which had directed the petitioners to vacate the suit premises by October 31, 2024, and hand over the vacant possession to the respondents.
The Supreme Court dismissed the present SLP, upholding the High Court's order. The petitioners were granted an extension until October 31, 2024, to vacate the premises, subject to the payment of rent and arrears. The court also directed the petitioners to file a usual undertaking in this regard within two weeks from the date of the order.
