Supreme Court to Hear Plea for Postponement of CA Exams Amidst Election Schedule
The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a plea seeking the postponement of the Chartered Accountant (CA) examinations scheduled to be held in May 2024. The plea has been filed by a group of CA students who are concerned about the clash between the exam dates and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The students argue that the election schedule will make it difficult for them to travel to their exam centers and that they will be deprived of their right to vote if the exams are not postponed. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which conducts the CA exams, has opposed the plea, arguing that the exam schedule has been set well in advance and that it would be difficult to change it at this stage.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear the plea on April 29, 2024. The outcome of the hearing will be closely watched by the lakhs of CA students who are preparing for the exams.
