1. The appellant has challenged the award of the Claims Tribunal whereby compensation of Rs.56,29,500/- has been awarded to respondent no.1.

2. On 9th January, 2008 at about 7:55 P.M., Roop Singh Verma and her granddaughter, Rupashi Verma were returning to their residence from R.K. Puram Market on scooter no. DC 9SE 1432 when a TATA Sumo bearing No. HR 38 LT 1854 hit their scooter on the Ring Road near Sector 12, CNG Pump, R.K. Puram. The accident resulted in death of Roop Singh Verma and grievous inuries to Rupashi.

3. Rupashi Verma was 8 years old at the time of accident. She suffered neuroparalysis and became paralyzed after the accident. She was taken to Safdarjung Hospital and thereafter shifted to Max Superspecialty Hospital for her further treatment where she remained admitted from 9th January, 2008 to 24th January, 2008. She was again admitted to Aashlok Nursing Home from 08th May, 2008 to 11th May, 2008. She continued treatment from Santhigiri Ayurveda and Siddha Vaidyasala, Kerela and Pantanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar. She also took treatment from Skin Care Clinic of Dr. Dileep Kumar Jain.
