This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 4 to conduct enquiry based on the petitioner's representation dated 12.11.2024 and take necessary action against respondents 5 to 9 for excommunicating the petitioner and the petitioner's family members by not permitting them to enter into the temple and also not allowing them to worship the god and not receiving the tax from them.
2. The petitioner resident of Athipatti, Sout Street, Aruppukottai, Virudhunagar District had sent a representation to the respondents 1 to 4 on 12.11.2024 for his ex-communication from the village and not collecting contribution for the temple festival and not allowing his family to enter into the temple and not permitting them to worship, but no action has been taken so far, hence the present petition has been filed.
3. The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that the petitioner married one Murugavalli




The court ruled that there was no evidence of social discrimination against the petitioner, confirming his right to participate in temple activities in future.
The court affirmed the right to participate in religious customs and deemed unlawful resolutions of excommunication enforceable.
No discrimination or prevention from temple participation due to inter-caste marriage; police to ensure equal access per customs.
Police must prevent excommunication, ensure temple access and customary participation through enquiry under BNSS.
