Facts of the case:
The Appellant was convicted of incest against his biological daughter and sentenced on 24 May 2024. The Notice of Appeal was dated 10 June 2024, filed out of time as the deadline was 7 June 2024.
Findings of Court:
The Appellant's appeal was struck out due to incompetence as it was filed after the prescribed period without a valid application for extension.
Issues: The main issue was whether the Appellant's Notice of Appeal was filed within the prescribed time limit.
Ratio Decidendi: The court ruled that strict compliance with the time frame for filing appeals is essential, and the failure to file within 14 days rendered the appeal incompetent. The court also noted the lack of an application for an extension of time.
Result: Appeal struck out.
