JUDGMENT

[1] This is an application by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Applicants (the Applicants) under s 14(1)(c) of the National Registration Act 1959 to correct or amend the clerical errors and/or particulars in their identity cards. The prayers and reliefs sought are as follows:

a) that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Applicants be at liberty to correct the clerical error and/or amend the particulars in their respective Identity Cards, by deleting the word "ISLAM" contained therein;

b) that the Order be submitted to the National Registration Department together with a fresh application for replacement of Identity Cards for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Applicants with the correct particulars; and

c) any other consequential orders.

[2] The grounds of this application which are set out in the Affidavit in Support affirmed by the respective Applicants are the same. In summary, the Applicants contend that they were non-Muslims since the time of their birth as evidenced in their birth certificates and their identity cards had erroneously referred to their status as Islam. As they have reached the age of majority, they wish to apply to correct and amend the particulars in their id
