The instant writ petition has been instituted by a former Judge of the High Court of Calcutta who stands convicted for criminal contempt of court by an order dated 9th May, 2017 by a seven Judge Bench of the Supreme Court of India and sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of six months.
